Corrugated Steel Pipe
AIL's Corrugated Steel Pipe has a long history of proven service performance for storm sewer, higway construction, mining and forestry applications.
It will not crack under impact loads or vibrations due to the inherent strength of steel and the flexibility of the corrugated pipe section. The high ring compression of the pipe absorbs and transfers the load to the surrounding soil around the entire circumference. The beam strength maintains the grade and line of the structure by bridging inequalities of the trench bottom and side fill.

Galvanized - Service life of 50 years Galvanized steel is the standard finish for all corrugated pipe and has been proven by field experience to perform well in low abrasion conditions. Its zinc coating is reactive to the water environments and is positively affected by higher levels of CaCO3 in the water. A 50-year service life can be expected providing pH is between 6 and 10, resistivity is between 2,000 and 10,000 ohm-cm and CaCO3 levels are above 50 ppm. Water outside of this range will shorten service life. Increasing the thickness of steel can offset this.
Aluminized - Service life of 75 years
This material performs well within a specific environmental range and in low abrasion conditions. A service life of 75 years can be expected providing pH is between 5 and 9 and resistivity is above 1500 ohm-cm. Service life is not affected by the hardness (CaCO3) level of water.
Polymer Laminated - Service life of 100 + years
This material performs well in both corrosive and moderate abrasion environments. The polymer over galvanized steel provides a service life beyond 100 years if pH is between 5 and 9 and resistivity is above 1500 ohm-cm. Service life is reduced to 75 years for pH 4 to 9 and resistivity greater than 750 ohm-cm. In extreme conditions, with pH between 3 and 12 and resistivity above 250 ohm-cm, the service life is reduced to 50 years. In all cases, service life is not affected by the hardness (CaCO3) level of water.
