Bridge Replacement in eight days.
When the road crew for Prince Edward County, Ontario started work at Demorestville Creek and County Road 5 on a Monday they knew they had a big job ahead of them. How could they tear out a deteriorating concrete bridge and install a replacement by the following Tuesday? The answer was Super•Cor®.

"The job was a two-way hurdle,we had to complete the bridge in time for school opening so that the buses weren't rerouted, and we had to keep the road closed for as short a time as possible since the detour was 10 km." - Pat Dunbar, AIL Technical Representative

Total elapsed time of road closure was only 53 hours.
Workers began bolting the structure together on Monday morning. A day later the structure was completed. On Wednesday morning excavators began tearing out the existing concrete bridge and began digging the trench for the Super•Cor® box culvert. "Because we were using the  Super•Cor® system, it was only necessary to close the road from 10:30 on Wednesday morning till 3:30 Friday afternoon," says Dunbar. Total time elapsed: 53 hours.

"This was an ideal location for a pre-made structure. Rock created a solid flat footing; we had room to assemble along the roadside; we maintained minimum road closure, with minimum traffic inconvenience and overall construction effectiveness. There's no way anything beats that!" - Steve Carroll, P. Eng., County Engineer
