Custom Super•Cor Box Culvert bumps concrete alternative and saves Ontario town 20%

The Town of Essex, Ontario originally tendered this replacement project a year earlier, specified as a concrete box. However the project did not make it past Town Council due to its cost. AIL was subsequently contacted by the Town’s consulting engineer to see what we could offer as an alternative. We had an intitial meeting and quickly came back with a custom geometry that met their unique hydraulic capacity and height of cover requirements.

GRS fish passage is first project completed through national conservation program

An AIL Geotextile Reinforced Soil (GRS) Bridge near Fox Creek, Alberta, was the first major project to be completed under Trout Unlimited Canada’s conservation program to identify, prioritize and resolve culvert-related problems. With two perched culverts impeding fish migration, this crossing was identified as a high priority opportunity to improve fish habitat with a larger open-bottomed structure.

Rapid response maintains factory spur line in Nova Scotia

Torrential rains associated with Hurricane Matthew had accelerated the inevitable collapse of an older stone culvert on a spur line serving a Michelin Tire plant. Critical rail shipments could have been interrupted without a replacement culvert supplied very quickly. It also had to meet current fish passage requirements from the Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources (DNR).

Eastern Ontario township chooses Super•Cor for the sixth time

GRS technology, polymer coating benefit BC MoTI replacement

An older galvanized steel pipe arch near Courtney, BC was close to the end of its design service life and was badly deteriorated. The BC Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure (MoTI) was looking for a longer-lasting replacement with improved fish passage dynamics for an ongoing stream rehab effort. While the deluge was still in progress, AIL contacted senior officials at Nova Transportation and Infrastructure Renewal (NSTIR) to advise that we were on 24/7 stand-by to help with any issues.

Ontario project ‘good-to-go’ for over 75 years with Best-Kote

Officials with The Municipality of Tweed, Ontario recently took a longer-term view on their Bogart Road bridge replacement project. Initially considering a modular steel bridge, they moved to AIL’s Super•Cor Box Culvert solution with Best-Kote Polymer Coating for the haunch sections and base channels only. Minimal cost over a 75+ year design service life was the main reason.
