BC’s Shuswap Lake region is known for its recreational alternatives — boating, houseboating and camping — serious camping. So, it was no laughing matter when the Cottonwood Family Campground was facing a tight May long weekend deadline for their new Pedestrian Bridge.
Bridge installed in two days
Thanks to a well-coordinated effort from all parties involved, the new bridge was manufactured and delivered on time and installed in just two days, leading to smiling faces and happy campers all around.
Great site preparation and shipping
The contractor did a great job getting the Geotextile Reinforced Soil (GRS) abutments built and ready. And our manufacturing facility met the tight timelines, despite a busy production schedule. Plus, we benefitted by finding a shipping company with specialized equipment that was able to bring the oversized bridge sections right to the site and accelerate our delivery schedule.
Blending in with the natural surroundings
The gracefully-arching, 32 m bridge joins the two main sections of the campground which wraps around a lake inlet. The H-section truss design features a naturally-weathering steel finish to blend in with the setting and provide a lifetime of maintenance-free service. A natural wood decking completes the picture.
