How To Order

Ordering an AIL Pre-Engineered Packaged Solution is easy. 

It is important to carefully confirm which Package will be best for your particular application. Please refer to the design assumptions to the right and follow these seven easy steps to ensure best results:

1. Professional site assessment

A professional hydrologic assessment of the watercourse and site conditions is strongly recommended to address potential upstream and downstream effects of the structure, as well as scour and frost impacts.

2. Choose the structure shape and size

Choose the best shape (Arch, Box Culvert or Round) and size based on hydraulic, live load and height of cover requirements of your particular application. Use the package numbers from the charts. Your professional site assessment should confirm the bearing capacity of your site and whether its foundation soils need improvement. For example, additional earth/aggregate may be needed where frost heaving is felt to be an issue.

3. Choose the plate type and coating

Based on the selection criteria and site conditions, choose the plate type (Super•Cor, Bolt-A-Plate or Dur•A•Span) and the coating that is required to achieve your service life requirements.

4. Determine whether scour protection is needed

Scour, caused by swiftly moving water, removes the fill below the footing/structure, compromising the integrity of a structure. Depending on the hydraulic conditions of your site, scour protection may be required. Your professional site assessment will confirm this.

5. Determine the type of end treatment

Requirements vary from site to site and AIL Pre-Engineered Packaged Solutions’ end treatments can be adjusted to meet your needs. Whether it’s just a Collar, Collar and Headwall with Coping or the full Collar, Headwall and Wingwalls with Coping – AIL can provide the right end treatment for your application.

6. Choose Headwall and Wingwall layouts

If Headwalls and Wingwalls are required, determine and pre-measure for the planned layout and review it with your AIL Technical Sales Representative.
