An aging cast-in-place concrete arch bridge on Lyn Valley Road in the Township of Elizabethtown-Kitley, Ontario, had shown significant cracks during inspection. Knowing that it needed replacement, the township considered several options before deciding on an AIL Super-Cor solution.
This structure is somewhat unique, with very large skew cuts on either end. They were required to minimize the structure’s footprint to fit within property limits.
AIL’s Engineering team ran various models and loading scenarios to come up with the required steel thickness for the skewed structure. A cast-in-place headwall/collar helped support and stabilize the structure.
Super-Cor replacement bridge opens ahead of schedule
We helped keep the project running smoothly by ensuring our design and procurement teams were well briefed on all deliverables, and maintaining open communication with our project partners.

Everything was supplied on time and on budget and, based on communication near the end of the project, all parties were satisfied with the outcome.
Best-Kote Buried Bridge Coating delivers over 75 years of service
The project featured Best-Kote Buried Bridge Coating to increase the life span of the structure. For extended service life of AIL’s buried metal bridges, tunnels and pipe culverts, Best-Kote offers superior 360° protection and long-term durability for over 75 years of service.
