When Quebec’s Ministry of Transport needed a durable and economical solution for a stream-crossing project, engineering firm Teknika HBA suggested using AIL’s Bolt-A-Plate with our new Best-Kote finish.
Best-Kote is AIL’s new polymer finish, designed to withstand the harshest environments. It offers superior protection against corrosion, abrasion and inorganic acid, salts or alkali. We were eager to introduce our customers to Best-Kote’s advantages, and the stream-crossing project in Lavaltrie, QC, was the perfect opportunity.
The challenge was to deliver a long-lasting solution in a short time and on a tight budget. We applied Best-Kote to two round Bolt-A-Plate culverts – the factory application adding minimal time to the manufacturing process. The Bolt-A-Plate culverts measured 3670 mm in diameter and 28 m long with an opening area of 10.57 m2.The culverts’ bevelled end design complemented the contour of the stream’s bank.
AIL’s structural steel plate is engineered to save on installation, so assembling the culverts took only three days and a minimal crew. The Teknika HBA engineers were very pleased with the results.
If you’re looking for a structural plate coating that promises a longer service life at an economical cost, get the Best-Kote finish. It’s available exclusively through AIL.
