When an aging concrete bridge over Marshy Creek on the St. Clair Parkway in Port Lambton needed replacement, the Township of St. Clair chose an AIL Super-Cor solution
This structure featured very acute 57.9° skew-cut ends. These helped reduce the structure’s footprint and save on material costs. For added resilience and sustainability, it also featured our Best-Kote Buried Bridge Coating that will extend its service life to over 75 years.
AIL’s Engineering team ran various models and loading scenarios to come up with the required steel thickness for the skewed design. A cast-in-place headwall/collar helped support and stabilize the structure.
Super-Cor buried metal bridges completed well ahead of schedule
We helped keep the project running smoothly by ensuring our design and procurement teams were well briefed on all deliverables, and maintaining open communication with our project partners.
The Super-Cor plates were manufactured early and sent to the contractor’s yard because the site was not ready due to delays with dewatering the creek. Our structure was erected very quickly, and the St. Clair Parkway was back open almost a month ahead of schedule.

The contractor, McLean Taylor Construction, was very pleased with how well the structure went together and the speed at which they were able to assemble it.
