AIL is proud to have been part of the solution for a new memorial installed on a retaining wall along Veterans Way in Okotoks, Alberta. The original retaining wall rehabilitation plan called for timber, but project proponents decided on the longer-term benefits of an all-steel solution that saw our Bolt-A-Plate Structural Steel Plate bolted to Steel Sheet Piling structural members.
The Memorial Wall surface was installed over this superstructure and is dedicated to over 200 local area men and women who served in the Second World War. Space remains on the Memorial Wall to later commemorate those who served in other conflicts, including the First World War, the Korean War and peacekeeping efforts in Afghanistan.
The installation was a collaboration between the Town, the Okotoks Arts Council, the Okotoks Legion, Friends of Elma St. and the Okotoks and District Historical Society, among others. It was officially opened during a special community ceremony on September 30, 2017.
Versatile Bolt-A-Plate — so many uses
Our R&D and Engineering teams keep coming up with new uses for Bolt-A-Plate. Over the years, it has been used for Bridge Abutment Back Walls, Bridge Pier Encasements, Mine Vent Raises and Wind Turbine Footing Forms, to name a few.
