Butterpot Park, NL, is named after a prominent rounded hill within its boundaries, surrounded by close to 3,000 hectares of varied terrain and vegetation – forests, bogs, heaths and ponds. Hiking trails lead to a remarkable scenic viewpoint on the hill. Amidst all of this natural beauty were two creosote timber bridges in dire need of replacement.
Tight timeline with winter conditions
It was mid-February and the project had to be completed within six weeks. Twin Super-Cor Box Culverts from AIL were chosen due to their time and cost efficiencies, as well as their minimal environmental impacts on the stream’s habitat.
Close working relationship ensured timely delivery and installation
The AIL team had been working closely with the owner and consultant since the conceptual stages of this project. Because of this we understood that this project would require a very quick delivery and we were ready to roll steel once the tender was awarded. Components for both Super-Cor Box Culverts were shipped from our Dorchester, NB, plant just four weeks after receiving the order.
Once the material arrived on the site, AIL provided on-site technical assistance to the contractor to ensure a hassle-free and timely installation. Each Box Culvert was assembled and backfilled in just two days. The project was completed on time and within budget, with favourable comments from the Contractor, the Engineering Consultant and the Park Planner.
