AIL supplied a Bolt-A-Plate structural steel plate culvert for the replacement of Bridge File 1974 on Highway 585, east of Trochu, Alberta. Installed by contractor Ossa Terra, the structure carries the highway over a tributary to Ghostpine Creek.
The project was part of a multi-project RFP issued by Alberta Transportation and Economic Corridors in fall 2025 for summer 2026 installations. The early tender period gave the project team valuable time to complete the engineering and manufacturing requirements.
As an economical alternative to concrete culvert structures or traditional beam bridges, the AIL Bolt-A-Plate system provided a strong, durable solution for replacing the existing crossing. The culvert features step-bevel ends, which improves hydraulic flow efficiency, anchors the structure and prevents soil erosion around the opening.
The client was pleased with the outcome, noting that it “went without a hitch.”
