As post-tropical storm Fiona approached Atlantic Canada, our Maritimes’ regional team was ready. In fact, our Technical Sales Representative, Julien Caissie, placed calls ahead of the storm to advise our customers that our Dorchester team was poised and ready to roll pipe as needed.
So it was no surprise when his contact at the Nova Scotia Department of Public Works called in urgent need of a large pipe to remediate major washouts in Dundee, Cape Breton.
We quoted a price right away and, once approved, we had the coil on order and the specialized trucking all arranged. The steel coil arrived very quickly at Dorchester and we soon had the sections ready to ship out. The twin Corrugated Steel Pipes with Aluminized Type 2 Coating were each 3,600 mm in diameter and 20 m in length.

Emergency replacement echoes previous effort on Hurricane Matthew
This effort is very reminiscent of a similar emergency culvert replacement project in Cape Breton, when the AIL Dorchester team also responded very quickly following Hurricane Matthew’s 2016 devastation.
