Open-bottom culverts are environmentally friendly
Dur-A-Span aluminum buried arch bridges and culverts are usually supplied as open-bottom and are an environmentally friendly solution, promoting fish passage through the bridge construction period and beyond. Box culverts are used primarily when height is limited as they can accept low cover heights. They also offer generous clearance boxes and hydraulic flow properties.
With our latest innovations in reinforcing rib technology, Dur-A-Span corrosion-resistant culverts can reach spans of more than 12.2 m (40′).
We recommend Dur-A-Span for stream crossings, open-bottom culverts, box culverts, culvert pipes, culvert relines and fish passages in saltwater or aggressive soil environments. It can also be used in storage structures for road salt or other materials.
